Weekly Photo Challenge: In the Background

06.08.2013.24.p

This photo was set up by a hired photographer.  I merely leaned in with my camera.  The background implies they are dreaming of their future together, and the cries of little voices beckoning them to “Watch me!”

Do you think it is a lovely idea, or is it trite to suggest they should be thinking about this already?

Like some sort of Walmart wedding promo corner section ad shot, frame-filling, generic, all too perfectly constructed fakery this photo screams corporate bla.
The problem is…its not. I happen to kow these are real people at a real wedding, sneaking out for some air and simply choosing the first place to sit. This mildy set up, clever shot simultaneously proves the entire world of “professional” photography and art gallary shenanigans is all bunk. I have a knowledge behind this photo that only 3 other people on earth shared at the time. But it can now be conveyed to all. Art “value” truly is all in the eye of the beholder. Is this a $.99 stock frame filler or a $999 prize winner? I say in this case at least, innocence, beauty, and yes indeed the story-telling of background all connect the photographer’s eye to the scene…and mine as well. This is truly one of the most amazing photos I have ever seen. I grant is an official “no-prize.” First place. –Taz
