WASHINGTON — Forget the heroics you saw in the movie “Independence Day,” a stunning new report finds that the United States is not ready to handle a threat from outer space! The U.S. Department of Defense released this damning conclusion after reviewing a recent report on widespread incidents of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) — better known by the public as UFOs.
The Department of Defense’s Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG) says that, whether these unexplained sightings are alien spaceships or man-made human aircraft, the U.S. government doesn’t have a clear plan to deal with the potential threat in the skies right now. Inspector General Robert P. Storch says, currently, there is no coordinated method to handle these UAP sightings. Think of it as if multiple people were trying to solve a puzzle, but everyone is using different methods without talking to each other – it’s confusing and inefficient.
The lack of a unified approach is worrisome for DoD officials because these UAPs could be anything – natural phenomena, foreign surveillance devices, or something entirely extraterrestrial. The DoD OIG believes this uncertainty could be a threat to military forces and even national security. Imagine a situation where something unknown is flying near a military aircraft. Without understanding what it is, how can the country ensure the safety of pilots or the security of American airspace?
“Given the significant public interest in how the DoD is addressing UAPs, we are releasing this unclassified summary to be as transparent as possible with the American people about our oversight work on this important issue,” Storch writes in the Jan. 25 report.
“The DoD’s lack of a comprehensive, coordinated approach to address UAP may pose a threat to military forces and national security,” the report states. “The DoD OIG found that the DoD does not have a comprehensive, coordinated approach to address UAP.”
To tackle these issues, the DoD OIG has made 11 recommendations. One key suggestion is to create a policy that would bring together various departments and their methods under one coordinated effort. It’s like saying, “Let’s all follow the same playbook, so we’re on the same page.”
This includes coordinating with the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, the Director of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, the Secretaries of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The topic of UFOs (now UAPs) is becoming a constant talking point for the U.S. government — and it has nothing to do with science fiction. In fact, the August 2023 report is just one of several documents recently declassified by the government which discuss strange occurrences in the skies worldwide.
In fact, recently declassified U.S. government files from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) are leading some to form a bizarre link between the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and flying saucers. It also turns out that U.S. officials are currently reviewing nearly 300 UAP incidents that have reportedly taken since 2019.
A 2023 poll found that 92 percent of all UFO sightings worldwide take place in the skies over the United States. Are these incidents really UFOs from another planet? We may never know the real answer. However, even military officials are now publicly saying we’d better come up with a plan — just in case these aliens don’t come in peace.

Who would thunk that if an advanced civilization had technology to traverse billions of miles across the galaxy to come here, that we would have no ability to ‘deal with them’. No kidding.
Why not shoot one down? It would be a giant leap in solving this mystery that at a minimum is distracting our country at a critical time. That being said, I don’t believe they are aliens from outer space. I don’t believe they are manned. I’m not even on board with the idea they belong to an enemy of the U.S. but rather they belong to some corporation getting ahead of itself in their R and D.
A nation would be beyond foolish to shoot at a UFO when it hasn’t shown any aggression to such country.
I don’t believe for a minute that the government isn’t aware of the plan that the Armed Forces have if this happens. The Commander in Chief is the President. He is the first person to be protected. He should know the escape route!
Sightings and encounters have been reported for years. Records have been kept, on the down low. Acknowledging anything like UFO’S back then was crazy talk. It doesn’t fit in with religion. But it does in my opinion.
Now, because of better technology, social media and NASA not in full control anymore the secrets out. You can’t tell thousands of people they didn’t see what they saw and have a picture or video of. Unless you’re the men in black, lol.
I don’t believe we are the only life in existence. What was, has been hidden until we were ready to hear “the rest of the story”.
I also agree some of these UAP are possibly unmanned, like what we are doing now. If not and we meet other beings, starting a positive relationship would be a great idea!
